Restoration of Humanities Major

The Department of Foreign Languages and Humanities is pleased to announce the reactivation of the major in Comparative Humanities (CHU - B.A.). The issues that placed the major on hold in Spring 2009 have now been resolved, and the access to the unit of study will available to students applying in Spring 2010. Students who are currently taking Humanities courses, and wish to declare this major as of Fall 2009 should visit the Registrar’s office, for a retroactive declaration.

This interdisciplinary major will cater to students interested in the arts but not wishing to complete a major in literature, art, music, philosophy or religion; for students interested in pursuing a traditional Liberal Arts degree; and for future Arts and Humanities teachers in our region of Kentucky. The synthetic critical thinking at the center of this major reflects the QEP emphasis and critical thinking, also offering courses with a writing emphasis.

Please consult the EKU Undergraduate Catalog, 2009-2010, or the FRLH homepage, for major requirements and course descriptions. For more information please contact Dr. Ezra Engling Chair, FRLH (ezra.engling@eku.edu) or Dr. Neil Wright, Humanities Section Coordinator. (neil.wright@eku.edu).
